Free parking for Blue Badge holders

Blue Badge holders can park for free for up to three hours in our car parks. Normal parking charges apply after the free-parking period has ended.

Renew or apply for a Blue Badge on the county council website.

Multi-storey car parks

At Grafton East car park, Park Street car park or Queen Anne Terrace car park:

  1. When you enter the car park, press the help button next to the Blue Badge symbol on the ticket machine
  2. You’ll be asked for your badge details so we can give you a discounted parking ticket
  3. When you’re ready to leave, visit a pay station to pay for any extra time you have been in the car park and validate your ticket
  4. Insert your ticket at the exit barrier

The discount is available at:

  • 8am to 8pm on weekdays and Saturdays
  • 10am to 5pm on Sundays

The discount does not apply outside of these times, and we don't refund retrospectively.

We are updating systems at these car parks. You will soon be able to claim free parking at any time, as you can at the Grafton West and Grand Arcade car parks (see below)

The Blue Badge parking permit scheme has been discontinued – your pass will be retained at the barrier. You are still entitled to three hours free parking by following the above instructions.

Grafton West and Grand Arcade car parks

At Grafton West car park and Grand Arcade car park you can claim three hours’ free parking at any time of day.

  1. When you are ready to leave, take your Blue Badge to a pay station and follow the instructions
  2. The machine will scan your badge to ensure it’s valid, and automatically deduct three hours off the parking fee
  3. If you’ve stayed less than three hours your ticket will be returned to you to allow free exit. Otherwise, pay the fee shown on the screen and your ticket will be returned to you
  4. Insert your ticket at the exit barrier

Pay and display car parks

Parking for Blue Badge holders is free for the first three hours at Castle Hill car park and Riverside car park.
