People and Culture Strategy


At Cambridge City Council we want to create a true culture of belonging. A place where we are all welcome, valued and listened to. A place where we belong and do the best job we can to benefit our communities, our residents and our city.

We keep our values [PDF, 0.1MB] at the heart of all we do while working towards our vision – ‘One Cambridge, Fair for All’ – with the city’s residents and our partner organisations. 

To deliver our Corporate Plan for Cambridge, we have developed a People and Culture Strategy that outlines our aspirations as a council.

The strategy has five interlinked themes that help us look after and develop the people that work here and grow a sense of belonging:

  • being an inclusive and welcoming place
  • attracting and retaining our people
  • living our values
  • rewarding, recognising and celebrating our people
  • developing excellent people, managers and leaders
