Gas safety in private rented accommodation

Private landlords must make sure a Gas Safe-registered engineer checks all gas appliances in their properties every year.

Your Gas Safety Record contains the results of the annual checks. You’ll receive a copy, and you must give your tenants a record of each check.

The annual check does not cover gas pipework, but the government recommends checking it every year as well.
