Cherry Hinton Hub

We are leading a project to extend Cherry Hinton Library to provide new community facilities.

Our Community Centres Strategy identified a lack of community facilities in Cherry Hinton. We have worked with the Cherry Hinton Community Benefit Society and consulted local residents to develop the plans.

The new hub will feature a café, three meeting rooms and a garden, as well as a refurbished library. It will be accessible throughout. The images show the architect’s vision for the building and garden.

The library is closed while the work takes place. A mobile library will visit nearby on Saturday mornings from June. The Rock Road Library will also offer an enhanced service.

Some of the existing library extensions will need to be demolished and rebuilt.

We expect building work to finish in late June. The county council will then refurbish the library, and the Cherry Branch café will be installed. We hope to open the new centre in the summer.

The Cherry Hinton Community Benefit Society will manage the hub when it opens. Visit the Cherry Hinton Hub website to find out more.
