Rent arrears reduction for private tenants and landlords

The Rent Arrears Reduction Scheme is a short-term cash supplement, paid to private landlords, to help a private tenant in temporary financial difficulties pay off arrears and keep their home.

About one-third of Cambridge residents live in private-rented accommodation. Landlords want to keep good tenants, and good tenants want to stay in decent homes rented from good landlords. However, the coronavirus pandemic has placed a great strain on people’s finances and we are aware that many tenants with a formerly good record might now be at risk of losing their home.

You can apply for help from our flexible Rent Arrears Reduction Scheme whether you’re a landlord or a tenant.

  • If you’re a tenant, we want to help you keep your home.
  • If you’re a landlord, we want to ensure you don’t lose income or feel you need to serve notice on a tenant.
