A dedicated team of staff from Cambridge City Council will be swapping their office shoes for running trainers as they take on the Cambridge Half Marathon to raise awareness of Cambridge Street Aid.
The group will be running the 13.1 mile course through the historic streets of Cambridge on Sunday 8 March 2026.
Cambridge Street Aid is an award winning initiative which provides practical help to people who live or have lived on the streets turn a corner in their lives.
Cambridge Street Aid provides grants to individuals in need, helping them access essentials such as training, accommodation, clothing, and other support that can make a real difference.

- Becoming a Street Aid Champion – help raise money and awareness for Street Aid, by holding and taking part in events in their workplace, university or local community.
Cllr Mike Todd-Jones, Cabinet Member for Safety, Wellbeing and Tackling Homelessness, said: “It’s great to see council staff going even further than the proverbial extra mile – a half marathon no less – for such an important cause.
“Cambridge Street Aid offers real, practical help to people experiencing homelessness, and this fundraising effort shows how deeply our staff care about making a difference in our community. This is a fantastic way to raise awareness and support for Cambridge Street Aid.
“Cambridge City Council is committed to reducing homelessness in Cambridge and supporting those who are homeless or rough-sleeping.”
The team will also be running for Cambridgeshire Community Foundation who support projects that are improving the quality of life across Cambridgeshire, including tackling inequalities.
