Akeman Community Centre is in the heart of Arbury in north Cambridge. The brand-new building was finished in June 2021.

The centre has two rooms, both of which have access to the garden and patio. There is also a fully equipped kitchen.

  • Room 1 has space for 30 seats or standing room for 40 people. It has a sprung floor, so is ideal for exercise classes.
  • Room 2 has space for 18 seats or standing room for 25 people.
  • Both rooms have Wi-Fi and a projector, screen, and speakers.

You can book either of the rooms and the kitchen for groups, parties and events. Contact us to find out more about room bookings.

The centre’s office hours are 9am to 1pm, Monday to Friday. The rooms are bookable at other times.

Holiday opening hours

  • Thursday 21 December: Open as normal, with Christmas breakfast and food hub from 8.45am to 1pm
  • Friday 22 to Wednesday 27 December: Closed
  • Thursday 28 December: Open for breakfast club and food hub from 8.45am to 1pm
  • Friday 29 December to Tuesday 2 January: Closed
  • Wednesday 3 January onwards: Open as normal

Access

The centre has level access throughout. There is an accessible toilet, and both rooms have a hearing loop system.

The centre has baby-changing facilities.

Transport and parking

There is one disabled-parking space outside, and space to lock your bike.

The Citi 1 and Citi 8 buses stop nearby – check bus times on the Traveline website.

There is limited on-street parking nearby.
