Swimming pools rules and admission policy

In accordance with national guidelines, please adhere to the ratio of two non-swimmers or under 8s to every competent adult swimmer.

A competent adult swimmer must actively supervise under 8s and non-swimmers under 16 at all times.

Carers can enter and participate free of charge when assisting a paying disabled swimmer. A maximum of two carers per swimmer will be admitted for free.

To improve your swim, we ask that you:

  • shower before entering the pool
  • read and obey all signs
  • familiarise yourself with the pool's depths
  • follow the lifeguard's instructions at all times
  • wear a buoyancy aid and stay within safe standing depth if necessary
  • do not eat or drink alcohol immediately prior to swimming
  • tie back long hair
  • remove all outdoor shoes before entering the changing rooms

Swimming lessons take place at Abbey Pool, Parkside Pools & King's Hedges Learner pool for children of all ages and adults. Visit the Better website for more information.
