Coronavirus: Updates and information

We are adapting our services as the situation changes. For details and to find out how to get help or volunteer to help others, visit our 'Coronavirus: Help for communities' page. Please follow the official NHS and government advice.

Request a litter pick

Littering is a crime. We can issue a £150 fixed penalty notice to anybody caught spoiling the streets by not using a litter bin.

You can use our online form to request that we clear litter. You can also use this form if you are a volunteer litter picker and need to tell us where to collect bags:

We can serve notices to the occupiers of business premises or private land requiring them to clear it. We can also take steps to prevent the land being defaced by litter again.

It is a criminal offence to ignore such a notice. The maximum penalty on conviction is £2,500 for individuals, or £20,000 for businesses.

Smoking-related litter

We work with Keep Britain Tidy to encourage smokers to dispose of their cigarette ends responsibly.

Our message is: no butts – stub it, bin it.

Businesses in Cambridge can pledge to support our voluntary litter code to help keep the city clean.
