Cambridge City Council

The sun shone for the 38th annual Mayor's Day Out

18 August 2023

The council's 38th annual Mayor’s Day Out took place on Wednesday (16 August) with almost 400 over 55s visiting Great Yarmouth.

The Mayor's Day Out is a coach trip to the seaside for Cambridge's over 55s, which costs just £10 per person including coach travel. The group will visit different seaside towns, with Great Yarmouth the chosen destination for 2023.

It was a beautiful sunny day, with Mayor of Cambridge Cllr Jenny Gawthrope-Wood joined by senior citizens to enjoy the Golden Mile of sandy beach, seaside shops and cafes, and live music from Under the Covers who delivered a fantastic set of classic hits from the 1950s, 60s and 70s in the Anchor Gardens on the seafront.

The excursion is run by the council's Cultural Services team. Visit the City Events webpages to find out more about free or low-cost events taking place in the coming year.
