In response to an enquiry from the media we issued the following response about the plans for a winter wonderland-style event on Parker's Piece for 2022.

Cllr Alex Collis, Executive Councillor for Open Spaces, Food Justice and Community Development, said: “At this difficult time, we know how important it is to provide opportunities for people to get together and enjoy themselves in the city. The winter wonderland event on Parker's Piece has not been cancelled. 

"At the moment we are in the middle of a tender process where providers can bid to run the event for 2022. We will announce the outcome of the process during October, at which point we’ll be able to let people know what will be on offer to enjoy this winter."

The executive councillor leading on this matter is Cllr Alex Collis (Labour), Executive Councillor for Open Spaces, Food Justice and Community Development. Spokespersons for the other political groups on this issue are Cllr Cheney Payne (Liberal Democrat) and Cllr Hannah Copley (Green/Independent Group).
