The Cambridgeshire Local Area Energy Plan is a roadmap for moving to a cleaner, more affordable and resilient energy system by 2045.
The plan identifies ways to reduce carbon emissions while:
- supporting thriving communities
- encouraging economic growth
- providing energy security
- protecting the city’s unique character
Cambridge has many older homes and historic buildings, and many residents do not have off-street parking. The plan identifies opportunities than can work in a dense urban environment, including:
- district heat networks
- building retrofit programmes
- innovative electric-vehicle charging solutions
The plan includes detailed local evidence to support the options it presents. Residents, businesses, community groups and energy providers all helped develop it.
It will help us to focus future investment where it can deliver the greatest benefit for local people and places.
Cambridgeshire County Council led work on the plan, with partners including us and other local authorities.
