Local land charges

A local land charge is a restriction or financial charge imposed on land or property. It is binding upon successive owners.

The information contained in a local land charges search can inform your house purchase or sale, or help to complete your official conveyancing searches. We are the only source for this official certified search.

We have a statutory duty to maintain an accurate and up-to-date register of local land charges and to carry out local land charge searches for land or property located within the Cambridge city boundary.

We provide a joint service with South Cambridgeshire District Council, through the Greater Cambridge Planning Service. The service also maintains the register and carries out searches for the SCDC area.

Our team provides an accurate, reliable and fully guaranteed service, and has a vast knowledge of relevant legislation and the local area.

Visit the SCDC website to find out more about our local land charges service.
