Cambridge Street Aid was set up in 2016 and to date has raised over £150k from your donations alone. 1005 of all donations are available as grants to individuals with a street-based existence to help them move off the streets for good. The grants have helped individuals reconnect with families, seek counselling, fund basic items to turn their accommodation into a home, fund training and work-based courses to mention a few.
Street Aid might not be the solution to street homelessness. It is however a small step in encouraging individuals to engage with services such as Jimmy’s, Wintercomfort, Cyreniens and the Street Outreach team which in turn can help them break away from a street-based lifestyle.
We hope to talk about the positive work going on in the city to help individuals move away for the streets and turn a corner in their lives for good. We want to show how real change is better than loose change when trying to make a difference.
We would love people to get involved. Please spread the word or even arrange your own fundraising event. Examples of fundraisers in previous years include:
- a cake sale
- coffee mornings
- sponsored cycle
We can provide lovely Street Aid yellow t-shirts and fundraising packs to help you on your way.
If you have lived experience of being on the streets and want to share your story, or you would like to volunteer to assist with any of the events please get in touch with our Street Aid Development Officer at email@example.com.
More information about Street Aid can be found on our Street Aid: Help for people on the streets page.
Brave the shave
In October we held a very successful Street Aid week with stands on the Market Square in the Grand Arcade and Grafton Centre which were attended by Street Aid and our partner agencies, Housing First, The Cyrenians and It takes a City to help spread the word of all the good work we do.
Keryn, Community Safety Manager, shaved her head in aid of Street Aid to donate hair to the Little Princess Trust and raised over £3,000 in sponsorship.
In total Street Aid week raised over £4,300.
From October to December 2022 Street Aid has issued 20 grants totalling £10,314.
Donations to Street Aid for the same period have totalled to £17,589.
