Access-controlled cycle parking

We have recently opened a new access-controlled cycle parking area at Queen Anne Terrace car park. There is space for 36 cycles and access is managed with contactless key fobs. The facility is open all day, every day.

There are four CCTV cameras covering the facility and a help point you can use to speak to us.

For the first stage of the scheme, a limited number of keys are available on a first come, first served basis. We will monitor usage of the facility and, if appropriate, will make more keys available later. We also plan to open access-controlled areas elsewhere in the future.

You must only use your key for the bike you registered it for, and you must not let anybody else use it. This is to help protect your cycle and the other people using the facility.

Keys cost £30 per year, paid in advance. We will contact you about renewing your key before it expires.

If you lose your key, tell us as soon as possible – we can deactivate it and send you a new one. A replacement key costs £15.

Apply for a key

If you would like a key, submit our expression of interest form to tell us your name and email address. We will invite the first 75 respondents to apply for a key.

Express your interest in our access-controlled cycle parking

If you are invited to apply, you must provide proof of your address and photos of yourself and your cycle as part of your application. You can also tell us about your cycle to help us identify it in case of any issues.

You will then be directed to pay the charge for your key. We will process your request and send you a key after we receive your application and payment.

Terms and conditions

As a keyholder, you must:

  • only use your key to store the cycle you registered to use it for
  • not allow anyone else to use your key
  • not misuse the access-controlled cycle parking facilities
  • tell us as soon as possible if you lose your key or it is stolen

We reserve the right to deactivate your key if we have reason to believe you are using it in a way that contravenes these terms and conditions.

If you decide you no longer need a key, contact us so we can deactivate your key and issue a new one to somebody else.

Stolen cycles and suspicious activity

If your cycle is stolen, or if you witness suspicious activity, antisocial behaviour or a crime you should report it to the police as soon as possible.

Call the police on 999 in an emergency, or 101 at all other times. You can also report an incident to the police.

You can also contact us using the contact details below, or using the help point at the cycle park

Keep your cycle safe

Using a cycle-marking kit can help deter theft and make it easier to identify your cycle.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary runs free events where they mark cycles and give cycle-security advice. Follow Cambridgeshire Constabulary on Facebook to find out more about the events.

You can also register your cycle’s frame number and details on BikeRegister, a secure online database that the police can access.

These measures will help the police return your cycle to you if it is stolen and later recovered.
