Coronavirus: Updates and information

Covid-19 is an illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It’s caused by a virus called coronavirus.

The main symptoms are a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, and the loss of or a change to your sense of smell or taste. Most people with coronavirus have at least one of these symptoms.

Follow the government’s coronavirus advice and the NHS’s coronavirus guidance. If you need to request help for yourself or someone else due to coronavirus, complete this help request form.

There are three simple actions we must all do to keep on protecting each other:

  • Wash hands – keep washing your hands regularly
  • Cover face – wear a face covering in enclosed spaces
  • Make space – stay at least a metre apart

Read the government’s guidance on what you can and can’t do, staying alert and safe, and meeting with others safely (social distancing).

The guidance has been updated following the changes to restrictions that the government announced on 22 September. When meeting with people you don’t live with you can socialise in groups of up to 6.

The county council publishes a weekly report of coronavirus data. It includes information about confirmed cases and deaths.
