Covid-19 is an illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It’s caused by a virus called coronavirus.
The main symptoms are a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, and the loss of or a change to your sense of smell or taste. Most people with coronavirus have at least one of these symptoms.
There are three simple actions we must all do to keep on protecting each other:
- Wash hands – keep washing your hands regularly
- Watch the NHS’s video on how to wash your hands
- Cover face – wear a face covering in enclosed spaces
- Make space – stay at least a metre apart
The guidance has been updated following the changes to restrictions that the government announced on 22 September. When meeting with people you don’t live with you can socialise in groups of up to 6.
The county council publishes a weekly report of coronavirus data. It includes information about confirmed cases and deaths.
