Pay and display car parks - changes to payment facilities
We have removed the ability to pay with cash from all of our pay and display car parks.
This decision was made on Friday 17 March 2017, following criminal activity involving the theft of two payment machines from Castle Hill and Gwydir Street car parks.
Customers who wish to use these car parks can register with our pay by phone provider RingGo or opt to park on street using county council managed payment machines where cash may still be used.
Castle Hill and Adam and Eve car parks are now able to accept card payments or you can opt to pay by phone via our provider RingGo. A 10p 'convenience charge' is payable if using this method.
Gwydir Street and Riverside will be converted to card acceptance in the next few weeks. In the meantime these two car parks remain pay by phone only. The 10p 'convenience charge' payable when using the pay by phone service is currently being absorbed by the council temporarily, as there is no choice of payment method. This charge will revert back to being paid by the customer when the machines at Gwydir Street and Riverside have card readers installed. We are awaiting parts from France but hope these will be installed as soon as possible.
