Mayor's civic reception postponed until 2022

News release from 5 November 2021

THE Mayor of Cambridge, Cllr Russ McPherson, has agreed to postpone his civic reception at the Guildhall which had been scheduled for Friday 19 November.

A civic reception was not held in November 2020 because of the pandemic and the decision to postpone this year’s event is based on the latest public health advice and guidance.

Cllr McPherson said: “Although the decision to postpone is taken with great reluctance, my primary concern must be the interests of public safety for our residents and the city as a whole.

“Therefore, very regrettably in the current climate this means that the mayor’s reception must be postponed until a date in 2022.

“However, it is my firm belief that the reception is a key event in the mayor’s calendar and is the mayor’s opportunity to thank, on behalf of the city council, some of the many in our community that make a valuable contribution to this wonderful city and who help make it so special. I look forward to a re-scheduled event when it is safe to do so.”
