Vacancy on Cambridge City Council

News release from 23 October 2020

FOLLOWING the resignation of former councillor Kevin Price, a vacancy has occurred in the King’s Hedges ward of the city council.

There are now four vacant seats on the city council across the King’s Hedges, Newnham, Queen Edith’s and Trumpington wards, however the law has been amended to prevent any elections or by-elections from being held during the current coronavirus pandemic.

This means that all vacancies will remain open until the next scheduled elections, which are due on 6 May 2021.

Residents in the city are currently being asked to confirm their voter registration details as part of the annual canvass of electors. Electoral canvassing staff are still calling on households who have not yet responded to the letter or email from the Electoral Registration Officer.

Staff are taking all precautions to ensure both they and householders can carry out the canvassing process on the doorstep with all appropriate COVID-19 measures in place.
