Vacancy on Cambridge City Council

News release from 6 August 2020

FOLLOWING the resignation of former councillor George Pippas, a vacancy has occurred in the Queen Edith’s ward of the city council.

The law has been amended to prevent any elections being held during the current coronavirus pandemic. This means that the vacancy will remain open until the next scheduled elections, which are due on 6 May 2021.

If the current law changes, allowing any by-election to go ahead before next May, the poll will be publicised as usual.

Residents in the city are currently being asked to confirm their voter registration details as part of the annual canvass of electors. Householders should ensure that if they are asked to respond to the letter from the Electoral Registration Officer, that they do so to ensure they are registered to vote.
