Cllr Rosy Moore, Executive Councillor for Climate Change, Environment and City Centre at Cambridge City Council, said: "Do remember to check the Councils’ websites for your bin days as it is very easy to lose track with all the Bank Holidays at this time of year. Also – please keep putting your green bins out fortnightly, even though we’re currently only guaranteeing a monthly collection. Our crews do their very best to empty more if they can.”
Cllr Bill Handley, Lead Cabinet Member for Environmental Services and Licensing at South Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “Our crews continue to work exceptionally hard every day, especially in the hot weather we’ve been having, to empty bins across Greater Cambridge. Please help them out by leaving your bins out with the handles facing the road. This gives them a little helping hand to complete their rounds as quickly as they can.”
For information about bin collection services or to find your usual collection date visit www.cambridge.gov.uk/recycling or www.scambs.gov.uk/recycling, where you can also find answers to Frequently Asked Questions related to green bin collections. These include information on how to help avoid spreading Coronavirus via your bins; how to store your green bin to avoid pests if it contains food waste; how to set up a home composter; and why the green bin collections were suspended as opposed to the blue or black bin collections. These services remain unaffected and residents should continue to put their black and blue bins out as normal.
Recycling and waste collections in South Cambridgeshire and Cambridge are carried out by the Greater Cambridge Shared Waste Service, a partnership between Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council.
