City council saddened by death of Honorary Councillor

CAMBRIDGE City Council has expressed its sadness at the death of Honorary Councillor Raith Overhill.

Raith Overhill, whose funeral took place in Cambridge last Friday, served on the city council for 19 years.

He was a ward councillor for East Chesterton from 1973-1976, for King’s Hedges from 1982-1990 and 1999-2003, and for Coleridge from 1995-1999. He served on a number of committees including chairing the Housing, Environmental Health, Direct Works, Licensing and Staff committees.

He also served as a magistrate for many years, on several public bodies including the Cambridgeshire Rating Valuation Tribunal and the Health Council, and as a school governor. More recently Hon Cllr Overhill was a trustee of the Cambridge Cyrenians charity for ten years.

The council expresses its sincere condolences to Hon Cllr Overhill’s family.
