A BY-ELECTION in the Newnham ward of Cambridge was held on Thursday 8 August, to elect a councillor to Cambridge City Council.

The result of the by-election was as follows:

Turnout was 26.7%. Following the by-election the composition of the 42 seats on the city council is: Labour 26 seats, Liberal Democrat 15 seats, Independent 1 seat.
