A NEW yoga and mindfulness course at a country park near Cambridge is aiming to provide an affordable way to improve people’s fitness levels and well-being.
The sessions, organised by Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council as part of the ‘Let’s Get Moving Cambridgeshire’ project, start at Milton Country Park on Monday 10 June.
This introductory course is ideal for people of all ages and abilities, and will focus on postures and mindfulness techniques designed to reduce stress and anxiety, while building confidence and self-esteem.
The course, run by a local yoga practitioner, consists of six weekly sessions from 1.30pm-2.45pm, and costs £45. The course is being offered free to people on the council’s exercise referral scheme.

“The council and our partner organisations are committed to helping improve the quality of life for residents and to increase their opportunities to take part in activities that are beneficial to body and mind.
“Not everybody likes the idea of organised sports or traditional keep-fit sessions, so we are delighted to be expanding the range of activities we are supporting with the ultimate aim of providing sessions to suit anyone.”
