A NEW ACCESS road to Cambridge City Council’s Huntingdon Road crematorium and cemetery opens on Tuesday 19 March.
The new road, off the A1307, will open overnight and the current entrance off the A14 will close permanently. All access to the crematorium and cemetery from tomorrow will be from the A1307.
Signage will be in place to assist people travelling to the crematorium and cemetery along the new route.
Cllr Katie Thornburrow, Executive Councillor for Streets and Open Spaces, said: “The new access road will make it much easier for people to get to the crematorium and cemetery.
“Turning off the busy A14 was never ideal so I am pleased that we now have a route in from the A1307 that will be safer for everyone.”
The council has worked closely with the Highways Agency and county council in advance of the changes.
The council’s Bereavement Services team prides itself on providing a caring and compassionate service with options for burial, cremation and commemoration of loved ones.
Staff are on hand to offer advice and help with making funeral arrangements and structuring a unique and fitting funeral service.
