By-election to be held in King's Hedges ward

News release from 18/03/2019

A BY-ELECTION has been called in King’s Hedges ward following a request from two electors to fill the vacancy created by the death of the former Mayor of Cambridge, Cllr Nigel Gawthrope.

The by-election will be held at the same time as the scheduled city council elections on 2 May, meaning voters in King’s Hedges will be able to elect two councillors for their ward.

In all other wards electors will vote for one councillor, unless there are any resignations from sitting councillors. The resignation and the request from two electors to hold a by-election must be received by 25 March, in order for the by-election to take place on 2 May.

Anyone who is not already registered to vote can do so by going online to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by calling 01223 457048 for a paper application. Applications must be made by 11.59pm on Friday 12 April to take effect for 2 May.
