One minute silence following New Zealand attacks

A ONE minute silence with be held on Monday at 12 noon as a mark of respect for the victims of the attack in New Zealand.

Cllr Gerri Bird, Mayor of Cambridge, will lead the minute’s silence from the front of the Guildhall, in memory of those injured and killed.

Cllr Bird said: “The horrifying acts of violence in New Zealand have resulted in innocent people losing their lives and others receiving terrible injuries.

“For most people it is simply not possible to understand this senseless violence. The suffering that follows is heart-breaking.

“My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones and the emergency services who acted with such great professionalism in the most difficult of circumstances.”

The flag has been lowered to half-mast over the Guildhall.
