THE PUBLIC are being invited to visit an exhibition of some of the most outstanding building projects in Cambridge.
From Monday 11-Friday 15 March an exhibition in the main reception of the Guildhall is showcasing entries to this year’s Cambridge Design and Construction Awards, which is sponsored by Cambridge City Council and the Cambridge Forum for the Construction Industry (CFCI) .
The exhibition will be an opportunity for everyone to view some of the high quality modern architecture and landscape produced in Cambridge recently.
Viewing will be available during the Guildhall’s opening hours, from 9am-5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am-4.30pm on Friday.
Building design awards have been running in Cambridge since the 1980s, and in recent times the revised awards scheme has attracted many important and landmark entries which make a positive contribution to the city’s built form.
Along with co-sponsors the council convene an independent judging panel to view the entries and to decide upon the winners.
Members of the public will also have an opportunity to attend the presentation evening to see which schemes have won in each category.
The event will be held at the McGrath Centre, St Catharine’s College from 6.30pm-9pm on the 26 March. Tickets are available through the CFCI website at https://www.cfci.org.uk/
Cllr Kevin Blencowe, Executive Councillor for Planning and Transport, said: “The Cambridge Design and Construction Awards celebrate some of the excellent work by architects and construction firms to build innovative and sustainable buildings.
“I would encourage anyone interested in architecture and design to visit the exhibition at the Guildhall to find out more.”
