A CASUAL vacancy in the King’s Hedges ward has been created following the sad death of the Mayor of Cambridge, Cllr Nigel Gawthrope.
If two registered electors request that the vacancy be filled, a by-election will need to be called within 35 working days of receipt of the request.
Fourteen seats across each ward in the city, including King’s Hedges, are up for election on 2 May, 2019. If a request for a by-election in the vacant seat is submitted between 13 March and 25 March 2019, the by-election would be held at the same time as the local elections on 2 May.
Each ward in the city is represented by three councillors. The two other councillors in King’s Hedges ward are Cllr Kevin Price and Cllr Martin Smart.
