Candidates for Petersfield by-election announced

ON THURSDAY 13 September, a by-election takes place in the Petersfield ward of the city following the resignation of former councillor Ann Sinnott.

Candidates have been announced as follows:

Antoinette Jackson, returning officer for the by-election said: “Local councillors are elected to make important decisions about the area you live in and how your taxes are spent, so I’d encourage everyone in Petersfield who can vote to do so.

“If you have moved house recently, are a student wishing to vote here in Cambridge, or know you are not yet registered, you can register by 28 August to give yourself the chance to vote in the 13 September by-election.”

People wishing to vote who are not already registered, should do so by 11.59pm on Tuesday 28 August.

If people know that they are not registered to vote or have moved house recently they can register by visiting or phoning 01223 457048 for a paper application form.

People can apply to vote by post before 5pm on Wednesday 29 August by visiting and can apply to vote by proxy before 5pm on Wednesday 5 September, also by visiting

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on polling day, Thursday 13 September.
