Mayor to welcome Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

News release from 14 November 2012

Cllr Sheila Stuart, Mayor of Cambridge, will welcome Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the city on Wednesday 28 November.

Their Royal Highnesses will meet the Mayor and the High Sheriff at the Guildhall in central Cambridge. The Royal couple will also appear on the balcony of the Guildhall, which overlooks the market square below.

Cllr Sheila Stuart said: “I am delighted that Their Royal Highnesses have announced the date for their Cambridge visit.

“It will be a joy to welcome them to our city and I do hope that they enjoy the time they spend with us.

“I am particularly looking forward to hosting them at the Guildhall and introducing them to some of those special people who received Cambridge News Community Awards.

“Their planned Guildhall balcony appearance will, I am sure, attract huge crowds in the market square, and I know the Royal couple will be assured of a great Cambridge welcome.”

The Royal couple will move on from the Guildhall and walk through the market square to the Cambridge University Senate House.

Further details of their schedule for the day will be released in due course by St James’s Palace; we will publicise them as we are made aware of them.
