Installation of electric vehicle charge points
Over the next few months, work to install rapid charge points to support a transition to lower emission taxis in the city will be taking place at three City Council surface car parks (Adam And Eve, Castle Hill and Arbury Court) and on street in Newmarket Road.
This work is funded by Central Government through the Office for Low Emission Vehicles, Cambridge City Council and the Greater Cambridge Partnership.
The first works will be starting on Monday 9 April where our delivery partners, eVolt and Electric Blue, are installing two electric vehicle charge points into Adam & Eve car park.
Initially, these charge points will serve electric taxis only as part of our work to improve air quality in Cambridge.
The rapid chargers will be capable of charging two vehicles simultaneously, and typically be able to charge an electric vehicle from 0% to 80% battery capacity in half an hour.
During the charger installation we are aiming to keep disruption to a minimum and would be thankful for your understanding and co-operation, and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Works are scheduled to take place during normal working hours of 9am and 5pm, and are expected to be completed by the end of April.
