Group-buying scheme for solar panels

If you’d like to generate your own electricity, you can sign up for the chance to buy and install solar panels and battery storage at a reduced price.

Solar Together’s group-buying scheme allows them to buy the equipment in bulk. They can then sell it on for less than the normal price.

The county council will conduct an auction at which contractors will say what price they would charge to install the panels and batteries. The lowest bid will win.

After the auction you’ll receive a recommendation for your property. It will be based on the information you provide when you register. You’ll have 6 weeks to decide whether to proceed.

The scheme is open to households and small and medium businesses. It’s free to register and there is no obligation to go ahead.

  • Visit Solar Together to find out more about the scheme and register.
  • The auction will take place on 6 October – make sure you register before then.

All contractors who bid at the auction will be checked for compliance with certain criteria, to guarantee the quality of their offer.

Your offer will include all equipment, a property survey, installation, monitoring and warranties. You’ll also have the option of installing battery storage for surplus electricity.

If you already have solar panels on your property, you can register to have storage installed.
