Estates and Facilities provides technical surveying, construction and building management expertise to the Council corporately, ensuring compliance with health and safety in our buildings and in our commercial activities.
Estates and Facilities has a key role to play in supporting the rationalization of our office accommodation through refurbishments and office moves. We have just completed our first house building for many years. We will build more new homes alongside the more routine work of the service in carrying out day-to-day repairs to Council homes.
In addition to our responsive repairs, voids, and asset management teams we have a Commercial Team within Estates & Facilities that has a programme of works including:
- New build on brownfield sites
- Refurbishment of buildings for external organisations
- Building conversions for external organisations
- Refurbishment of Council buildings
We’re now looking for talented and professional surveyors to be part of our forward-thinking council. We want to recruit motivated, knowledgeable and experienced surveyors across two teams, who are committed to delivering a high standard of service to a variety of customers and stakeholders.
Roles cover a variety of responsibilities across both Housing and other Council owned buildings, including responsive repairs, cyclical works, building services, contract management, along with planned replacement and improvement programmes of work. On a day to day basis you will take responsibility for managing contracts and projects and you will have interaction with both external contractors and our internal operations delivery team, so being a proven team player is crucial.
You must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and you will be able to give expert advice and deal confidently with all types of queries from tenants, leaseholders, as well as a wide range of stakeholders, including Councillors.
Each post requires you to be suitably qualified and/or experienced in a particular aspect of building maintenance. Proactive and organised, you’ll be a natural problem-solver and an exceptional project and contract manager. Your knowledge of construction techniques and health and safety legislation will be matched by outstanding communication, report writing, and numeracy skills.
