Coronavirus: Changes to our services

We have put contingency plans in place to address the impact of coronavirus on our services. We remain open for business and will continue to change and adapt our services and as the situation develops.

Service updates

We are running a limited green bin collection service. Put your green bin out every fortnight as normal, but we can only guarantee to empty it once per month for the time being.

Our car parks are open as normal. Parking permits for key workers and people who work in the city centre are available.

Check the Stagecoach website for the latest news about changes to their services.

Our customer service reception points at Mandela House, Arbury Road and the Guildhall are closed.

Contact details for our services are listed at the bottom of their pages on our website, or you can contact our customer service centre at enquiries@cambridge.gov.uk or 01223 457000.

Some of our services are unable to collect and respond to correspondence sent by post, or to process payments made by cheque. Please check the relevant service’s information on this website before contacting us by post.

Please send any mail for our Housing team to PO Box 700, Cambridge CB1 0JH while the City Homes office is closed.

The Corn Exchange is currently closed, and all events are being reviewed. There’s no need to contact the box office – they will contact everybody who has bought a ticket to advise about new dates and refunds.

This year’s Cambridge Folk Festival has been cancelled.

Our swimming pools and community centres are closed until further notice. All bookings at the pools and centres will be retained, and no charges will be made until they re-open. Paddling pools and splashpads are also closed.

Scrapstore is closed until further notice.

We are booking emergency and minor housing repairs only for council tenants.

We have reduced how often we clean communal areas at leasehold properties, and suspended window cleaning until further notice.

Some public toilets are closed because the buildings do not allow for safe social distancing.

The crematorium is closed to the public until further notice, other than for close family members to attend funeral services. The cemeteries on Huntingdon Road and Newmarket Road are also closed.

Our Arts Distribution Service is not offering leaflet or indoor poster distribution until further notice. Please contact us before making a booking for outdoor poster panels.

We're holding virtual committee meetings where practicable – check the committee meeting calendar if you are planning to attend one.

We have extended the deadline for the the 2020 S106 funding round until 30 July.

The taxi licensing team will no longer be conducting face-to-face appointments and have made changes to the way they process driver, vehicle and operator licences. The new processes will continue until further notice.

Our noise complaints service is running a reduced, telephone-only service for most reports, until further notice.

Our pest control service is booking appointments for outdoor assessment and treatment only.

We have postponed or cancelled a number of events, such as community environment days.
