Taxi licensing policy review consultation
Consultation runs from
31 July 2017, 9:00am to 3 September 2017, 11:59pm
Introduction and background
The Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy applies to all drivers, vehicles and operators.
The policy is intended to ensure that both the trade and the public have a document that fully explains our licensing requirements in context for all parties in a clear and transparent manner.
In addition to the policy document we provide a Taxi Handbook, an operational guide that outlines the processes associated with the administration and enforcement of taxi and private hire licences and is subject to amendment by our Environmental Health Manager.
While the current policy has been fit for purpose, the trade have asked for some elements to be reviewed as well as request new provisions be added.
We are conducting a consultation to review the proposals to amend the current policy document and associated handbook. This will ensure that it complies with government best practice guidance and provide protection for the public using the service.
All feedback is encouraged and all comments will be considered as part of the review and in preparation of the final policy document.
Any comments that you submit should clearly state your name and any organisation or persons you may be responding on behalf of.
Please refer to the proposed changes document, which provides a summary of what revisions, updates or amendments have been made.
If you have any questions about this consultation, contact Commercial and Licensing team at firstname.lastname@example.org or 01223 457888.
Post any correspondence to Commercial and Licensing team, Cambridge City Council, PO Box 700, Cambridge CB1 0JH.
Additional information and documents
The results of the consultation exercise will be presented to councillors at the Licensing Committee meeting on 16 October 2017, to take account of feedback in order to consider any amendments to the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy.
