Redevelopment of 67 to 97a Campkin Road consultation

This consultation closes at 11.59pm on Friday 25 October 2019.

We’re publishing this consultation on behalf of Cambridge Investment Partnership (CIP), an equal partnership between us and Hill Investment Partnerships. CIP have commissioned this consultation ahead of submitting a planning application – it does not replace the consultation that we run as part of any formal planning application.

We plan to build at least 500 new council homes in Cambridge by 2022. To help meet this target, Cambridge Investment Partnership (CIP) is proposing to build around 78 new council-rented homes and a new community facility on Campkin Road.

The new high-quality, energy-efficient homes will replace the two-storey flats at 67 to 97a Campkin Road. The 74 apartments and four houses will be one and two-bedroom properties in buildings between two and four storeys high.

The scheme has been carefully considered for some time, and has been designed in line with comments and pre-application discussions with our planning officers. Consultations have also been ongoing with the residents of the buildings that are proposed to be demolished.

We are now seeking comments from the public and local community. We’ll consider all feedback and amend the design as appropriate, before submitting the planning application.

Drop-in event

There was a drop-in event on Tuesday 8 October, from 3 to 7pm at North Cambridge AcademyArbury Road, Cambridge CB4 2JF.

Display boards showed detailed proposals for the site, and members of the professional design team were available to answer your questions.

Next steps

CIP will consider the responses to this consultation when producing a detailed planning application. They intend to submit this in autumn 2019.
