Nightingale recreation ground improvements consultation

Consultation runs from

2 October 2017, 9:00am to 10 November 2017, 11:59pm

Introduction and background

We plan to improve and add to the play equipment at Nightingale recreation ground, using developer contributions funding.

We propose to use the existing equipment and trees to develop a bespoke timber unit that will include net bridges and climbing elements. The surfacing around the zip wire will be renovated, and thermoplastic lines on the paths will create road markings and a roundabout.

The play area will be aimed at children up to eight years old. Safety surfacing will be a grass mat-style surface conforming to BS EN 1177 safety standards.

Areas of the open space will remain for informal play and leisure, with the new area complimenting existing play equipment.

Other improvements will see access improved from the pavilion side of the play area, new steel railing fencing at the car park boundary, and better access from the car park to the recreation ground.
