One of the aims of our Greater Cambridge Housing Strategy is to show what we expect new housing developments to look like.
We and South Cambridgeshire District Council are consulting on three new policies.
The Build to Rent Policy will govern new homes that are built with the intention of being rented. This does not cover homes that councils or housing associations built to use as social or affordable rent homes.
The Clustering and Distribution of Affordable Housing Policy will set out where affordable housing should be built on new developments.
The Affordable Rents Policy will propose the sorts of rent levels that should be set for council and housing association homes, to ensure they are as affordable as possible to those who need them.

The consultation is open for 6 weeks until Tuesday 23 March 2021.
Paper copies of the survey are available on request.

The policies will be considered by our Executive Councillor for Housing in June 2021, for approval to adopt. South Cambridgeshire District Council’s Cabinet will also consider them in June or July 2021.
If the policies are approved we will publish them on our housing strategies webpage, with information on how we used your responses to shape the policies.
