Consultation runs from 27 June 2018, 9:00am to 16 July 2018, 5:00pm
Introduction and background
We are developing a Making Space for People supplementary planning document (SPD) for Cambridge.
When adopted, the SPD will be a material planning consideration for proposed developments in the city centre. It will provide further detail to a number of the local plan policies and opportunity areas identified in the plan.
The SPD will be used to prioritise the delivery of improvements to key public spaces. It will also identify improvements to key streets, and improve the walking and cycling network.
The SPD will help maintain Cambridge’s role as a centre of international excellence. It’ll do this by encouraging more sustainable transport, safeguarding the character of existing spaces, and identifying opportunities for new uses of space.
As part of the initial stages of preparing the document, we want to hear your thoughts and ideas, so we’re running a consultation. Tell us which streets and open spaces you think work well, could be improved, or could be used differently.
If you have any questions about this consultation, contact Planning Policy at firstname.lastname@example.org or 01223 457180.
Post any correspondence to Planning Policy, Cambridge City Council, PO Box 700, Cambridge CB1 0JH.
You’ll have more opportunities to comment on the emerging themes and ideas over the coming months. We'll keep our website up to date through the process.
We expect to publish the draft SPD in early 2019 for formal public consultation.
