Consultation on Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing fees
Consultation runs from
20 November 2017, 12:00am to 17 December 2017, 11:59pm
Introduction and background
Under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, Cambridge City Council has the authority to levy certain charges in respect of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing.
Cambridge City Council has undertaken an exercise to review the changes it makes for all the licenses where it is the responsible authority.
During the fee review exercise, the council has ensured that the basis for which those charges are made is correct and soundly based in law. Additionally, the council is required to cover its costs for administering licenses.
A consultation on the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing fees is to be presented to Committee for approval on 29 January 2017 and be adopted from 1 April 2018.
Please see this list of new and current charges [PDF, 154kB] which the Committee will be asked to adopt.
Any objections or comments to the fees should be made in writing by 17 December 2017 to Yvonne O’Donnell, Environmental Health Manager using the address below.
On this occasion we are also seeking views on how the costs incurred from the weekend provision of a taxi marshalling service on the Market Square rank should be split across licence holders.
If you have any questions about this consultation, contact Commercial & Licensing, Environmental Services at firstname.lastname@example.org or 01223 457888.
Post any correspondence to Commercial & Licensing, Environmental Services, Cambridge City Council, PO Box 700, Cambridge CB1 0JH.
The Licensing Committee will be asked to consider a report about the level of charges in each case, at its meeting on 29 January 2017.
If Members approve the proposed fees, Cambridge City Council proposes to make these fees applicable in respect of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing with effect from 1 April 2018.
