Club, coach and individual development

You'll find a range of development resources and information for all sports at Sport England.

Club Matters

Club Matters provides free guidance, support and learning on all aspects of running a club. The Club Matters website is a one-stop shop for all the support and guidance needed in retaining and increasing members, as well as helping your club develop the skills it needs to build a club that lasts. Club Mark pages and information can also be found on this site.

Coach development

The national agency for coaching is UK Coaching, formerly known as Sports Coach UK, who focus on recruiting, retaining and developing coaches.

They believe that coaching is about improving a person’s experience of sport and physical activity by providing specialised support and guidance in line with their individual needs and aspirations.

UK coaching is administered in the east of England by Living Sport, the county sports partnership for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

In September 2016, Living Sport launched its #LetsCoachGirls campaign. This was aimed at supporting local female coaches in improving their skills and taking the first steps into coaching.  Attached to this campaign is a regular coach forum, bursaries and a small grants scheme to help set up sessions.

For more information follow @LetsCoachGirls on Facebook or go to Living Sport to find out more information about this and other local coach support opportunities they offer.

Cambridge FANS Scheme

The Cambridge FANS (Free Access for National Sports People) scheme is a sports development initiative providing support and encouragement to the city's leading talented and elite sports performers.
