BIG OLYMPIC TORCH TO COME TO BIG WEEKEND IN 2012

The London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay will involve 8,000 inspiring people carrying the Olympic Flame around the UK for 70 days.

On the majority of days, the Olympic Flame will conclude its journey at an early evening celebration event held in a major town or city.

Cambridge is one of 66 UK locations holding an evening celebration for the torch which will bring thousands of people together for a chance to share in the Olympic spirit.

The Olympic Flame will arrive on Parker’s Piece for an evening celebration at The Big Weekend on 7th July 2012 and stay overnight in the city before continuing on its journey the next day.

At the event, the London 2012 Organising Committee of the Olympic & Paralympic Games (LOCOG) will stage exciting entertainment as part of Cambridge City Council’s annual Big Weekend event.

The exact route of the Flame will be announced later in the year.
