What is Public Access?

“Public Access” is an on-line Internet planning service that allows you to view details of planning applications being considered by Cambridge City Council.

You can monitor the progress of an application, submit comments about the application, search a “realtime” list of applications received and decided each week, and view details of historic applications.

The system also allows the public to view a planning mapbase, detailing constraints and planning histories relating to properties.

Limitations

The service is continually developed, and as such improvements will be brought into the public access system over time. The system is not a substitute for land searches, and all information is for reference only, and is not legally binding.

The online planning history contained within the site at present is incomplete and must not be used as a substitute for carrying out a formal ‘Land Charge Search’.

No responsibility will be taken for any errors or omissions in the planning history information obtained from ‘Public Access’.

The City Council is working towards perfecting the historic mapbase data, with a view to 100% accuracy in spatial (mapping) data from 1963 onwards as the end result.

Similarly the information contained within Public Access does not constitute in any way a formal notification of a planning decision, and as such any actions taken as a result of information displayed on the site are undertaken entirely at the viewer’s own risk.

No documents are currently able to be viewed on the site in the form of plans and application forms, although the council is working towards the implementation of this facility in the future.

As such, to view corresponding plans and drawings the user will need to visit either City Homes North/South, Planning Reception, or the Central Library, at the locations detailed elsewhere on this website.

Copyright Notice

Plans, drawing and material submitted to the Council are protected by the Copyright Acts (Section 47, 1988 Act).

You may only use material which is downloaded and/or printed for consultation purposes, to compare current applications with previous schemes and to check whether developments have been completed in accordance with approved plans.

Further copies must not be made without the prior permission of the copyright owner.
