01/p/01           MINUTES

 

The minutes of the meeting held on 13 September 2000 were confirmed as a correct record and signed by the Chair.

 

01/p/02           Apologies

 

There were no apologies for absence.

 

01/p/03           Declarations of Interest

 

There were no declarations of interest.

 

01/p/04           Public Question Time

 

No members of the public wished to address the Sub-Committee.

 

01/p/05           cAMBRIDGESHIRE STRUCTURE PLAN

 

The Director of Environment and Planning presented a report which examined the main themes of the key issues report published by Cambridgeshire County Council on the Cambridgeshire Structure Plan review and recommended comments for consideration by the Sub-Committee.

 

The Sub-Committee reached a consensus on a number of changes to be made to the proposed comments on the issues report.

 

Resolved (with no votes against) that the City Council’s comments for submission to Cambridgeshire County Council on the County Council’s key issues report on the Cambridgeshire Structure Plan review be as set out in Appendix 1 to these minutes. 

 

01/p/06           BUS STRATEGY FOR CAMBRIDGE

 

The Head of Transport Services presented a report which set out for members’ consideration a draft response to Cambridgeshire County Council’s draft bus strategy.

 

The Head of Transport Services recommended that the following further comment (not included in his report) be made in the response:  that the Action Plan should include provision for securing public transport proposals through Section 106 agreements.

 

Members asked that the following further comments be included in the response:

 

·        Funding proposals for improvements should be included in the strategy.

 

·        The strategy should acknowledge that competition can lead to improved bus services.

 

·        The strategy should acknowledge that community bus services are an issue for the city as well as for rural areas.

 

·        The strategy should highlight the potential integration of rail and bus services.

 

Resolved (with no votes against) that the City Council’s comments for submission to Cambridgeshire County Council on the County Council’s draft bus strategy be as set out in paragraphs 5.1 to 5.3 of the report, subject to the addition of the comments described above.

 

01/p/07           DATE OF NEXT MEETING

 

Resolved (with no votes against) that

 

1)     The meeting scheduled for 18 April 2001 be cancelled.

 

2)     The next meeting be held in mid-May, on a date to be arranged.
