Open Forum:  Members of the public are invited to ask any question, or make a statement on any matter related to their local area covered by the City Council Wards for this Area Committee.  The Forum will last up to 30 minutes, but may be extended at the Chair’s discretion. The Chair may also time limit speakers to ensure as many are accommodated as practicable.

 

Committee reports by Council officers:  It would be helpful if you wish to speak to inform a Council officer before the meeting starts, alternatively raise your hand and the Chair will call you to speak.  You will have up to three minutes to speak.  The Chair has discretion over these rules.

5          COMMUNITY SAFETY PARTNERSHIP

A Board member from the Partnership will give a brief outline of the process to develop the new Community Safety Strategy 2005-08.  The audience will then be invited to take part in a discussion with a view to identifying the crime priorities in the local area.   There will also be an opportunity to complete a questionnaire on the same subject.

8          ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT GRANT – ROYAL BRITISH LEGION, FISHER’S LANE

 

The Royal British Legion has sought funding towards fencing on two of its boundaries.  A quotation for the work has been received for £1100.  A Safer City grant has been awarded for £500 and the applicant’s have committed £500.  This leaves £100 from the Committee’s Environmental Improvement budget.  The quote for the work is guaranteed for a period of 3 months.  

 

The project, when judged against the eligibility criteria for Environmental Improvements – fulfill all the essential criteria.  There is sufficient reserve in the Committee’s budget to cover the cost of this scheme.  A full report on the progress of the scheme will be brought to this committee on 4th November 2004.

 

The Committee is asked to approve £100 funding towards the installation of a fence at Royal British Legion, Fisher’s Lane.
