To note that the applications made relating to the premises shown below have been approved by the Head of Environmental Health and Waste Strategy (HEHWS) under delegated powers.  The premises marked with an asterisk will not be issued with a Licence until outstanding work, required by either the HEHWS or the Fire Officer, has been satisfactorily completed.  If such work has not been completed by 31 March 2002, any affected premises will be unable to hold events after that date until the work has been completed to the satisfaction of the HEHWS.

31        DATES AND TIME OF FUTURE MEETINGS

 

(a)       The Sub-Committee is recommended to agree the following dates for meetings in 2002:

 

            Thursday 13 June

            Thursday 15 August

            Thursday 24 October

 

(Note:  There will also be a meeting in December, but the date for this cannot be set until the date for the Council meeting in that month is known.)

 

(b)       The Sub-Committee is recommended to agree that, in view of the recent trend for meetings of the Sub-Committee to last longer and for agendas to be larger, all ordinary meetings of the Sub-Committee begin at 2.00pm (rather than 4.00pm) with effect from Thursday 13 June.

 

            (Note:  The meeting on 18 April will begin at 4.00pm as scheduled.) 

 

32        URGENCY ACTION:  ARBURY COMMUNITY CENTRE (FOR INFORMATION)

 

At the last meeting, a Public Entertainment Licence was granted for Arbury Community Centre (minute number 01/m/136 refers).  Subsequent to the meeting, conditions from the Fire Service became available modifying those included in the report, as follows:

 

Condition 7:  replace “Maximum Numbers permitted – Main Hall 200, New wing 100” with:

“Maximum Numbers permitted – overall limit of 250”.

 

Condition 9:  replace “Any other conditions as stipulated by the Fire Officer” with:

“Number of exits – 5

2 x 9 litre water and 1 x 3kg CO2 extinguisher

Maintained illuminated “EXIT” notices – 7 in total

2 stewards – to be easily identifiable”.

 

Under the urgency action procedure, the Head of Environmental Health and Waste Strategy amended the conditions as described above, following consultation with the Chair.

 

The applicant was advised of the amendments and raised no objection.

 

The Sub-Committee is asked to note the above.

 

33        URGENCY ACTION:  THE BLACKAMOOR’S HEAD PUBLIC HOUSE (FOR INFORMATION)

 

At the last meeting, a Public Entertainment Licence was granted for the Blackamoor’s Head Public House (minute number 01/m/137 refers).  Subsequent to the meeting, conditions from the Fire Service became available modifying those included in the report, as follows:

 

Condition 6d):  replace “1 x 2kg CO2 type extinguisher sited adjacent to band/disco” with:

“1 x 3kg CO2 type extinguisher sited adjacent to band/disco”.

 

Additional conditions:

 

·        Number of exits – 2 (inner door, rear exit to be held back in the open position when the Licence is in use)

·        1 steward.

 

Under the urgency action procedure, the Head of Environmental Health and Waste Strategy amended the conditions as described above, following consultation with the Chair.

 

The applicant was advised of the amendments and raised no objection.

 

The Sub-Committee is asked to note the above.

 

34        EXCLUSION OF THE PUBLIC

 

Before considering the next items on this agenda, the Committee is recommended to exclude members of the public from the meeting on the grounds that, if they were present, there would be disclosure to them of information defined as exempt from publication by paragraphs 7 and 14 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.

Information for the public

 

If you do not wish to speak on an application, you are welcome to attend this meeting as an observer, although it may be necessary to ask you to leave the room during the discussion of matters which are described as confidential on the agenda.

In the event of the fire alarm sounding  (which is a continuous ringing sound), you should pick up your possessions and leave the building by the route you came in. Once clear of the building, you should assemble on the pavement opposite the main entrance to the Guildhall and await further instructions. If your escape route or the assembly area is unsafe, you will be directed to safe areas by a member of Cambridge City Council staff.
