A very important sign

This sign is very important - find out why

This section is designed to help you avoid receiving a Penalty Charge Notice. Use this information in conjunction with the Highway Code.

These pages also tell Blue Badge holders what they are allowed to do in each type of parking place.

Our Parking Enforcement Policy is fair and consistent across Cambridge, and our aim is to minimise the number of Penalty Charge Notices issued by providing advice and information regarding such subjects as Residents' Parking, City Centre Access, Pay & Display Parking, and so on.

Currently active and planned parking suspensions

A full list of subjects is given below; just click on the subject to read the information. If you can't find the information you are looking for, call us on 01223 458500 or e-mail parkingcontrol@cambridge.gov.uk and we will be happy to help.

Each of the following pages explains the type of parking restriction, bay type or road marking, in terms of who can park where and why. (Please note that in areas where space is at a premium with many competing demands for parking, a single bay can change use during the course of a day - i.e. a loading bay from 7.00am to 10.00am then changes to a disabled bay between 10.00am and 4.00pm, back to a loading bay between 4.00pm and 7.00pm and then between 7.00pm and 7.00am the next day it is a taxi rank. In view of this please always check signs carefully)

Although we try to keep the lists of locations for each type of bay up to date, a change may appear on the street before we are notified. This makes it important to confirm what you read here with a sign by the bay when you park because the sign on the street takes precedence.
