Warm Homes, Healthy People fund
We have received £22,000 from the Warm Homes, Healthy People fund, which must be used before the end of March 2012.
Some of this money will be used to help inform vulnerable residents of the dangers of cold homes by sending out leaflets and room thermometers, and some will be used to provide emergency measures when a vulnerable person is without heating or has inadequate heating in their home. We may also be able to fund repairs to heating systems.
Vulnerable residents needing help with their heating, or anybody wanting more information about the scheme, should contact Home Aid at home.aid@cambridge.gov.uk or on 01223 457945.
This scheme is part of a countywide partnership with other agencies such as Age UK, Arthur Rank Hospice, Care Network, CAB and neighbouring local authorities.
Each partner bid for money to run specific schemes covering the provision of information, arranging boiler servicing and energy-efficiency assessments, and even a shopping service for the elderly during icy weather. Some of the services are only available in certain districts, other are countywide.
