Cambridge is growing
After years of careful planning and preparations, there are now tangible signs of growth. For example:
- the first homes on Cambridge's north-west fringe are now built and occupied
- student accommodation is being built as part of the CB1 development around Cambridge station
- construction will be moving forward on a number of growth sites on the city's southern fringe this autumn.
The delivery of successful new neighbourhoods in Cambridge is a high priority for the city council. We have invested a great deal of energy into the planning and preparations, and this level of commitment continues as we move into the delivery stage.
Cambridge has already gained national recognition for the way it is growing. For example, the Accordia development on Brookloands Avenue won the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize in 2008 and the council’s sustainable drainage design and adoption guide picked up two awards from the Landscape Institute in 2010.
